Kathy Coleman is best known for her role as Holly Marshall in the 1970s sci-fi series Land of the Lost. Cast by Sid and Marty Krofft, she portrayed the resourceful younger sibling in the cult-favorite show, which aired on NBC from 1974 to 1976. Her iconic blonde braids and red-and-white checkered shirt made Holly a beloved character, inspiring young viewers with her courage and charm. The series, featuring dinosaurs and time travel, became a Saturday morning staple, running for three seasons and cementing Coleman’s place in pop culture history.
Beyond Land of the Lost, Coleman’s acting credits include a guest appearance on Adam-12 in 1975 and a role as Rosa in the PBS educational series Still The One (1977–1978), where she appeared in 26 episodes as a member of the Short Mimes. She also starred in short films like Coffee Breaks and Canaan Land (2020).
After stepping away from acting in the early 1980s to focus on family, she contributed interviews and commentary tracks for the 2004 Land of the Lost DVDs, though her cameos in the 2009 film adaptation were cut from the final release.
As an author, Coleman published two memoirs. Lost Girl: The Truth and Nothing But the Truth, So Help Me Kathleen (2015), co-written with Steven Thompson, details her experiences in music, television, and personal life, including two abusive marriages. Her second memoir, Run Holly Run (2017), focuses on her time on Land of the Lost, offering fans an inside look at the show’s production and its lasting impact.
